About TLB

Some nights you forget. Others you tell for years.
We’re here for the second kind.

The Lost Bartender is an independent magazine of stories, guides and places across New York, Madrid, Ibiza and London. Bars, restaurants, wine, cocktails, and the people behind them.

We don’t list everything. (The internet already does that. Endlessly.)
We pick. Then we tell you why.

What’s inside

Cocktails. Recipes and stories from behind the bar.

Drinkbook. Tasting notes, minus the snobbery.

City Guides. The right places, city by city.

Places We Love. Only the ones that stole our heart.

The Journal. TLB, unfiltered.

We don’t just write about great nights. We host them too: private experiences, pop-ups and collaborations with people and brands we believe in.
Never the same night twice.

Who we are

A growing crew of bartenders, sommeliers, writers and curious people in every city we cover. Different accents, same obsession: finding the places worth the story.

How it started

Long story short: Heriberto was one of the first bartenders in Montevideo. Decades later, his grandson Zalo Acuna, a creative by trade and a bartender by blood, spent years behind bars and wine lists from New York to Europe, collecting stories on the other side of the counter.
One day he started writing them down.
Some of Heriberto’s old mixology books are still on our shelf.

Pull up a stool.

A LIFE WORTH TELLING.
